After nearly a month of waiting (Thanks for that unnamed retailer!) I finally received the 1.4x extender for my Olympus system.

Paired with the Olympus 300mm F4 PRO gives an 840mm F5.6 equivalent lens on the OM-D EM-1 Mk2 |
This provides a not insignificant increase of 240mm onto the total focal length, bringing it up to a 840mm F5.6 lens! Not to commit too much "willy waving" but this is a very useful focal length.
Yes I am using a far smaller sensor than you'll find on a full frame Canon 1Dx mk2 for example, about 1/4 of the size to be precise, but to get this focal length on such a camera would require the purchase of the lens below:
 |
Canon EF 800mm F5.6 L USM IS lens. Retail price - £11,899.00 |
As stated in the photo caption this lens costs....ahem....£11,899.00....That's a lot of penny sweets! Add in the price of a full frame camera like the 1DX mk2, £4799.00 to be precise, and you are looking at a whopping £16,698.00...!!!!
Below are a couple of photos I took today with this combination. I am still learning how to get the best out of the Olympus system but I am pleased to note that there is very little difference in sharpness and contrast with the converter attached.
